The reception was held on October 22nd at No.11 Downing Street, and celebrated the success and importance of the British Beauty Industry.

Caroline Neville, president of CEW UK, commented:

For CEW to be hosted at No.11 by the Chancellor is a mark of how far the organization has progressed since our founding in 1992 and the increasing importance of our sector. The beauty industry is a key contributor to the UK economy through revenue, training and innovation.”

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, The Rt Hon George Osborne MP, said:

“It was a privilege to host this reception organised by Cosmetic Executive Women. Our beauty industry is one of the best in the world. It brings in billions of pounds and accounts for a million jobs. It’s time we recognised this enormous contribution to our economy.”

Secretary of State for Education and Minister for Women and Equalities, The Rt Hon Nicky Morgan MP, added:

“The beauty industry makes a valuable contribution to the economy and employs a large number of women, including at senior levels. Like many sectors, it has an important role to play in tackling gender inequality and I was delighted to celebrate its success at Number 11 last week.”
